Welcome to the Malpie Hoeve: A unique location at the edge of nature reserve De Malpie, where you will be heartily welcomed in the Brabant tradition.

Take a seat and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee, our homemade farmhouse ice cream or other delicious treats, while the children amuse themselves in and around the farm. 

Come for a short visit or stay the whole day: our door is open and admission is free.

Come to the Malpie Hoeve and be pampered. Relax and enjoy everything that is going on and the children playing around you. Something to celebrate? Together, we'll make a party of it. Book whichever package most appeals to you.


Feel free to come in for an ice cream, all year round or a cup of coffee with something delicious on the side. Our homemade mon chou cake for example!

Malpie Hoeve

Always something going on here

There's always something going on here, for all ages and for the whole family. 
Originally, our farm was a working farm and we still have about 60 dairy cows and 5,500 free-range hens; unique surroundings for great packages, such as 'Farmer Jan' or a group lunch in our stable.

Over time, the farm has been extended with an indoor and outdoor playground, where children up to 12 years old can really enjoy themselves.
In addition, our upstairs room is regularly used for meetings, celebrations or (sports) club gatherings. Many walkers, cyclists and horse riders begin their trail from here or stop on their way for a break.

You can also enjoy something to eat and drink. We have a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks and dishes from the 'small menu', which are prepared using local produce as much as possible. We are proud of our homemade ice cream, which we make ourselves using our own milk. Naturally, we also offer gluten- and lactose-free ice cream.

Our history in a nutshell

Anno 2019: Hoeve IJs is now called Malpie Hoeve!

Our farm has a new name: Malpie Hoeve. 
This marks another important moment in the rich history of the farm, which we took over from Jan's parents in 1995.

In 1999 we started preparing ice cream in a traditional way. in this start our company name "De Stenen Brug", this had to do with the stone bridge over the Dommel. This was left standing during the 2nd World War and was then called the Victoria Bridge.
In 2011 the old barn was demolished and the current building was taken into use in 2012. In the meantime, our ice cream was so popular that this place became increasingly known as Hoeve IJs. But since we don't just sell ice cream, this name was insufficient and we were looking for a name that shows all facets of our business.

Ultimately, we looked for a name that suits our farm and the nature reserve where we receive our guests. So we ended up with "Malpie Hoeve", a name that we will use with pride!

  • What are your opening times?

    Our opening and closing times differ according to the season. Please always check our website before you set off. 

  • Is admission free?

    Yes, admission to the farm is completely free. Parking is also free. However, you are not permitted to bring your own food and drink, and you are obliged to take some kind of refreshment.

  • Is WiFi available?

    Certainly and it is also free. 

  • How wheelchair accessible is Malpie Hoeve?

    Our terrace, the indoor playground and our café are wheelchair accessible. We also have a toilet and parking space for disabled people.

  • Do we need to book?

    Our doors are open to everyone. Admission is free and we do not take bookings: the more, the merrier! There is often more than enough room but, of course, there are days when it is very busy here. Bookings can be made for packages, such as a (children's) party, luxury brunch buffet, an excursion with Farmer Jan or a meeting.


    Due to Corona reservations are not possible now. also no parties.

  • Do you have fixed opening times?

    No, our opening times sometimes change. This has to do with the temperature, the seasons and holiday periods. Please always check our website for the opening times before you set off. These are the current opening times.

  • Are we allowed to bring food and drink?

    You can visit our farm as often as you like and you never have to pay. For this reason, you are not allowed to bring your own food and drink. 'You are obliged to purchase some kind of refreshment here'. We have a wide selection of drinks, snacks and small dishes, sweets and delicious homemade farmhouse ice cream.

  • Can we eat something at Malpie Hoeve?

    Yes, we have a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, hot and cold snacks and dishes, sweets and homemade ice cream. You can also have breakfast or lunch here.

  • How much does breakfast cost?

    Come and enjoy a delicious breakfast! It costs only 4,00 euros per person, from Monday to Friday. At weekends and during holidays, we charge 4.50 euros per person. Breakfast is served till 12.00 midday.

  • Do you serve gluten-free products?

    Certainly. We have various items on our menu that are gluten-free. Almost all of our ice cream is gluten-free.

  • Do you also have lactose-free ice cream?

    Indeed we do. We prepare fresh farmhouse ice cream in the traditional way and in all sorts of flavours every day. Naturally, we also have lactose-free ice cream.

  • Is it possible to come for just an ice cream or eggs?

    Absolutely! And the same applies to eggs and buckets of ice cream. You can pop in any time because admission is free. You can also get eggs yourself from our egg dispenser. This is located in the Venbergseweg. You can access it day and night, all year round. You can only pay with coins. The dispenser does not provide change.

  • Do you have cycle and walking trails?

    Malpie Hoeve is situated on the edge of the beautiful nature reserve, De Malpie. 

    Walkers as well as cyclists and horse riders regularly take a break and some refreshment here. We do not have any trails ourselves but you can download the local trail routes here. You can, of course, also set off from Malpie Hoeve. Start here with breakfast or lunch, or end with a bite to eat and a drink here! 

  • Do you also rent out rooms?

    If you have something to celebrate or are you looking for a room for a club meeting or activity, please enquire about the possibilities. We will do our best to accommodate you. The use of our rooms is free of charge and we have all sorts of facilities, such as a beamer in our upstairs room.
